Update – 4/8/19
Reinforcing steel was placed at the new retaining wall south of Boschome Drive this past week and the first section was poured on Friday. When complete, the wall will have a stained surface which will simulate a stacked stone. A section of wall is scheduled to be poured each day this week and into the beginning of next week. Installation of the subsurface concrete columns in the ground improvement areas between East and West Cuba Roads is expected to begin on Tuesday, April 9th. This operation is expected to continue through the end of next week. When the concrete columns are complete, they will be loaded with roadway embankment and monitored for settlement. Installation of sheet piles north of Greenwood Drive is scheduled to begin later this week. The sheet piles are being installed to assist in removal of poor subsurface soils in the area. As construction activities continue to pick up throughout the construction site, please continue to watch for workers as well as trucks entering and leaving the roadway.
Nicor Gas crews tied in the new 4” distribution system in the area of Lea Lane, Greenwood Drive and Bristol Trail this past week. Backfilling and restoration work at the tie in points is expected to be complete this week. Nicor also conducted tests to inspect for leaks on the new 20” transmission line. When the testing is complete, it will be followed by connecting the new transmission pipe to the existing at Boschome Drive. The connection is expected to take place on or around April 17th which will be followed by work to restore Boschome Drive. Nicor Gas is planning to have Boschome Drive reopened by April 30th. Please continue to follow the posted detour. More information regarding the detour can be found at by clicking here.
