Update – 4/23/2019
Installation of the underground concrete columns was completed last week in the ground improvement areas between East and West Cuba Roads. Testing was performed on the columns by applying a vertical load to assure they meet required bearing pressures. Metal sheet piles were installed along the eastern right of way north of Greenwood Drive. A second line of sheets will be installed later this week approximately 45 feet west after portions of the existing pavement are removed. The sheets will act as a temporary retaining wall. Soft, poor soils between the sheet walls will be removed and replaced by materials suitable for roadway construction. Later this week, earth excavation and storm sewer installation operations will begin.
Nicor Gas crews completed the preparatory work necessary to retire the old 18” transmission line. Due to unforeseen circumstances, however, Nicor has changed the retirement date to the first week of May. Because of this, Boschome Drive at Quentin Road will remain closed until May 17th. More information regarding the closure can be found by clicking here.
AT&T crews completed splicing in the new cables this past weekend. The old cables and poles that interfere with the improvement are scheduled to be removed over the next couple of weeks.
