Update – 5/13/2019

Once again, rain limited construction activities last week.  Storm sewer installation started north of East Cuba Road and will continue through the middle of the week.  Installation of the next system of pipes will begin near the end of the week.  This system will require installing a pipe crossing under Quentin Road between Bristol Trail and Lea Lane/Greenwood Drive.  Because of this, Quentin Road may be reduced to one lane during off-peak hours which could cause traffic delays.  Sheet pile installation north of Greenwood Drive is nearly complete. Once finished, it is anticipated the sheet pile crew will move to a location south of Bristol Trail to begin installation on a second temporary soil retention wall.  Weather permitting; roadway embankment placement is also scheduled this week. Nicor Gas completed the retirement of the old 18” transmission line last week.  They will be restoring the excavation and repaving Boschome Drive at Quentin Road.  The closure is expected to remain in place until May 17th.  More information regarding the closure can be found by clicking here. AT&T crews will continue removing retired cables and poles that interfere with the improvement over the next couple of weeks. Please check the Photos tab for Read More

Rain limited construction activities on the project most of last week.  Sheet pile was able to be installed north of Greenwood Drive on Thursday and Friday.  Installation is expected to continue through the end of this week.  Also planned for this week is roadway embankment placement and storm sewer installation as weather and site conditions allow.   Since relocation of the majority of utility conflicts iscomplete, an updated project schedule has been posted to the project website.  The update can be viewed by clicking here.   Nicor Gas is scheduled to retire the old 18” transmission line this week.  When complete, Boschome Drive at Quentin Road will be restored. The detour is expected to remain in place until May 17th.  More information regarding the closure can be found by clicking here. Update – 4/30/2019

Aggregate was placed in both ground improvement areas between East and West Cuba Roads.  This final lift of aggregate will transfer the load of the roadway embankment onto the underground concrete columns to bridge over the poor subsurface soils.  Topsoil was also stripped at several locations within the project limits.  The topsoil will be respread when embankment and roadway construction is complete.  This coming week, roadway embankment placement and storm sewer installation is anticipated to begin.  Additionally, installation of the second line of sheet piles north of Greenwood Drive is expected to resume.  We are hoping for a more favorable forecast as much of this work is weather dependent.   Nicor Gas is scheduled to retire the old 18” transmission line early next week.  When complete, Boschome Drive at Quentin Road will be restored.  The detour is expected to remain in place until May 17th.  More information regarding the closure can be found by clicking here. AT&T crews will continue removing retired cables and poles that interfere with the improvement over the next couple of weeks.
