Update – 11/25/19

Because of the snow and ground conditions, there was no road construction work the week of November 11th.  Last week, pavement and existing storm sewer pipes were removed at select locations on Quentin Road to facilitate retaining wall construction.  Erosion control measures were installed on the west side of Quentin Road throughout the project limits.  The final concrete ADA ramps on the east side of Quentin Road were poured at Boschome Drive and Greenwood Drive.  Hot-mix asphalt was paved on East Cuba Road and the westbound lanes were striped to accommodate separate left and right turn lanes.  Pavement markings throughout the project were restriped with a higher durability epoxy paint for the winter period.    Work anticipated this week includes earthwork in preparation for retaining wall construction and temporary soil stabilization. Nicor gas crews continued removing the 18” gas line that was retired last May.  Removal efforts started near West Cuba Road and have progressed to south of Bristol Trail.  This work will continue through the end of the year.  ComEd is almost finished removing aerial cables and poles on the west side of Quentin Road between East and West Cuba Roads.  These overhead lines were relocated to the west Read More

Update – 11/11/19

On Tuesday last week, pavement markings and new signage were installed to shift southbound Quentin Road traffic eastward.  This lane configuration will be in place throughout the winter.  Following the shift in traffic, topsoil stripping on the west side of Quentin Road started on Wednesday and continued through the end of the week.  Also, last week, the topsoil that was stripped was re-spread on the east side of Quentin Road and final graded.  Installation of temporary aggregate shoulders also occurred throughout the project limits.   Work anticipated this week includes continuing topsoil striping, along with placement and final grading on the east side of Quentin Road.  Areas which have been topsoiled are scheduled to be landscaped this week as well. Nicor gas crews returned to the site to begin removal of the 18” gas line that was retired last May.  Removal started north of West Cuba Road and will continue northward to Illinois Route 22.  This work is expected to continue through the end of the year. Update – 11/04/19

Snow and colder temperatures limited work last week.  Nonetheless, fine grading and temporary pavement installation was completed in the median of Quentin Road and on West Cuba Road.  Temporary paving operations are now complete for this stage.   Permanent pavement on the north side of East Cuba Road was also installed last week.  Work for the upcoming week includes placing concrete with ADA warning tiles at intersection gaps in the shared use path.  Also, aggregate shoulders will be placed along the edges of the temporary pavement.  These operations are anticipated to be completed early this week.  Pavement marking for the next stage of construction is also expected to be completed this week.  The southbound lanes will be shifted east so the west side of the road can be constructed.  This lane configuration will be in place through the winter. Nicor gas crews are expected to return to the site soon to begin removal of the 18” gas line that was retired last May. Please check the Photos tab for more in-depth information regarding the project.
